A Quick and Easy Way to Lose Weight Fast in a Healthy Way, and Keep it Off
This is a short and quick blog post on something I “discovered” that I wanted to share with anyone who is gaining weight, even though he or she is keeping what they consider a “healthy” diet.
A Weight Problem
A few weeks ago, I had this issue, and was frustrated and concerned about it, and was not sure what to do. I talked to my doctor, because I was concerned that it was due to some medications that I have been taking. He told me that I should try to cut down on my calorie intake, since “calories in, equal calories out.” I was dubious, because I was eating what I considered a healthy diet, and this seemed like obvious advice.
The Easy Solution
When I took note of the foods that I was eating, however, I realized that the “healthy” veggie chips that I was having throughout the day, and the greek yogurt bars I was having for desserts after each meal, were adding up to about 1,000 calories a day! I cut out these items, replacing them with lightly snacking on mixed nuts in the afternoon, and a sip of vanilla soy milk following my meals. In only a few weeks, I was able to lose about 5 lbs., and have kept it off.
The Simple Lesson
So my lesson to you is, if you are gaining or having trouble losing weight, even though you are following what you consider a “healthy” diet, check your daily calorie intake, and make adjustments to your portions of foods with excess calories - such as snacks, drinks, or desserts - replacing them with healthy, lower calorie, or smaller portion, options. Make sure you still enjoy your new diet enough to maintain it, and you should be able to see your weight steadily go down, and you should be able to keep off the extra pounds.
